|WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE A HOUSE OF PRAYER?
The very foundational principle of prayer is God speaks to us and moves our heart; then we speak those very words back to Him
and move his heart. As we come into agreement with His word, and that He is who He says He is, we are led into intimacy with
When we agree with who God in worship, our faith expands to agree with what He has promised to do - this is intercession.
Elijah knew the power of prayer and maintained clear communication with the God of Heaven. He was well established with
Him. Great happenings occurred when he spoke and acted in faith. We also must come to this place of being rooted and
grounded, that when we speak forth the Word, God sends forth His fire.
Our authority and dominion is activated through our intimacy, through our ministering unto Him. Yes it is fervent prayer
(intense, heartfelt, fiery), yet it is done from a place of rest, that rest is abiding under the shadow of His wing, knowing that He is
our fortress, our strong tower, that His Word is true. It is refiners fire and never returns void. That is effective prayer.
We know we are connected to the vine and bear good fruit and that wonders follow after us. Prayer/intimacy empowers us to
witness and release. It allows the Holy Spirit to go to work. Effective prayer is prayer that attains what it seeks. It is prayer that
moves God. Partnering with God changes us individually as well as the state of the world around us. God takes His territory
through our partnership with Him.
It is a culture of prayer that is being establish at TOBCF, the centerpiece of our lives is this intimacy with God, embracing and
living a Sermon on the Mount lifestyle. We then engage in evangelism, compassion and works of justice in the city, operating
through the Holy Spirit to accomplish these works.
Isaiah 56:7 "Even them I will bring to My Holy Mountain, and make them joyful in My House of Prayer. Their burnt offerings and their
sacrifices will be accepted on My altar; for y house shall be called a House of Prayer for all nations."
